Victoria Ultimate Players Constitution

 

1. The name of the Society is “Victoria Ultimate Players' Society”, herein referred to as "VUPS".

2. Purposes and Goals The purposes of VUPS include but are not limited to:

• To encourage the health and physical fitness of the individual through participation in the sport of Ultimate Frisbee.
  
  
• To encourage and support the participation of individuals, league teams and competitive touring teams in Ultimate Frisbee based in the Capital Regional District.
  
  
• To emphasize that participation in Ultimate be carried out in an honest and friendly manner and that all participants display the “spirit of the game” to the best of their abilities.
  
  
• To provide a wide range of opportunities for all who wish to participate in Ultimate regardless of their skill level or desire for competition.
  
  
• To work with individuals, governing bodies (e.g. British Columbia Disc Sport Society and Ultimate Canada), organizations and educational institutions, at all levels, to develop, improve and maintain Ultimate education programs and facilities throughout the Capital Regional District.
  
  
• To inform the VUPS Membership, the public and related organizations about the Society, its activities, goals and other topics relevant to Ultimate.
  
  
• To obtain and manage the resources necessary to achieve the goals of VUPS.
  
  

3. VUPS will provide resources in support of competitive touring teams whose participants shall all be members of VUPS in good standing, subject to the criteria set by the Board or their designates.

4.VUPS shall acquire, manage and distribute resources without gain for individual members. Resources of VUPS shall be used for promoting its short- and long-term initiatives.

5. In the event of dissolution, the funds and assets of VUPS, after the satisfaction of its debts and liabilities, shall be given or transferred to an organization with similar purposes and in accordance with the Canada Income Tax Act.

6. Paragraphs 3 through 5 of this Constitution are unalterable in accordance with the Society Act.
